Snow Alliance was established in 2012 by a group of people concerned about the consequences climate change would generate on the resources and wildlife in northwestern China. With an aim to better protect the alpine ecosystems, we implement on-the-ground research projects and conduct awareness raising public activities in cooperation with university groups in Qinghai and other provinces of China. We are also dedicated to building information sharing platform for NGOs working in the vast and less populated northwestern China.
We currently focus on:
1. Water privatization
-- Water consumption of bottled glacier mineral water industry and its impact on local ecosystems.
2. Documentary making
-- To introduce the water resource problem to the public by showing them in a direct way what is going on in the field.
3. Glacier witness
-- With the concerned public, we record the retreat of glaciers in northwestern China.
4. Connecting the dots
-- To provide an information exchanging platform for those work in the alpine areas of China.
